A lesson in letting go.

Frankie has started childcare.

We enrolled her and it felt like we had heaps of time. It turns out it would come around in the blink of an eye.

The first orientation was ok. Dean was with me and we just sat in a room with a lovely carer and discussed routine and so forth. Frankie played with a bead puzzle and that was that. Easy right?

The second orientation I was on my own. I dropped Frankie in the nursery she didn't give me another look once she saw the bead puzzle and I walked out with one last glance and then felt sad when she wasn't looking at me #getoverit

I sat in a parents room for an hour. It went quick enough but man does the mind play tricks on you. Needless to say once the hour was up and I went to get her, she was fine.

Then came D Day. Dean took the day off work and we dropped her in for her first full day. We pretty much just dumped and ran because she was happy and we didn't want to make a big deal. Be cool guys...be cool!

We look pumped don't we...

Dean and I spent the next two hours moping. What was she doing? Was she ok? Is she getting some sleep? No news is good news right? We got a nice breakfast but didn't smile. We took the dog for a walk but it was cold and conversation was pretty non existent. We wandered southland going in and out of shops but didn't buy anything. I didn't feel like shopping. WHAT!!! I decided we needed to snap out of it and started snapping my fingers maniacally until Dean told me to stop. But you know what? It worked!

We went to gold class for a bit of VIP treatment and saw JOKER. In hindsight not the best choice when you're already feeling a bit highly strung but how good is that film?! I found myself checking my phone at the start but then I finally let go.

Pick up time was all smiles and happiness. She loved her first day and that made it all

worthwhile. I am sure it will get easier for us. This is a good transition.

Day 2 was a lot easier on all of us. Frankie went off like a champ and I made sure I dressed in something nice to make me feel great. I even put on some lippy! My local cafe barista told me i looked lovely which set the day off to a great start and I managed to keep myself busy without too much worry.

Then I went and picked her up early because I missed her.
