We're in a global Pandemic?

Uncertain times.

We are in the middle of a pandemic.

Yesterday I officially went into lockdown. We sort of had been since Thursday night but I made the decision to step back from work, took Frankie out of Childcare and so our self isolation began. I had been battling with myself for a week or so as to whether to do this or not. I was fearful of spreading the virus, of Frankie being a silent carrier and infecting people who don’t have the health that I have.

In my mind now, it was a no brainer. Prevention of this virus is key. If I step back and remove myself and the fam from the equation maybe we can play a small part in levelling out the dramatic curve. We will also be protecting people. My parents and some of my friends are in the high risk category as are so many others. It's not worth it.

There is a lot of emotions involved. The vibe in public is noticeably down when I go for the mandatory supply run. How could it not be? People are hurting. Not just for their health but also for their livelihood now. Jobs are being paused or even worse, lost while we’re in lockdown.

People that are working for essential services are finding it hard - they want to be at home away from the germs and with their families. We are all doing the best we can in a situation that we have never experienced.

To spread a little bit of sunshine I ask you, what have you been enjoying about isolation?Having time to reflect on how isolation is for us these are some of the things that I am loving:

Smiling and talking to strangers at a socially acceptable distance,

Supporting local businesses,

Family walks,

Online shopping and subscriptions for necessities,

Trying new recipes,

Taking a moment to celebrate all that we do have and the beauty that surrounds us,

Facetime, zoom and houseparty - bringing back semi-normality since 2020.

That's it from me xo
